InterCambio -Virtual Center for Information and Knowledge Exchange in Support of Rural Development in Latin America —Latin America is changing rapidly. New policies, new technologies, and new institutions using new delivery systems have led to new approaches to rural development. Hundreds of public and private institutions and thousands of individuals are now working with rural communities promoting sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. A critical problem is that these development, research and policy institutions are not interconnected. Cost-effective mechanisms are needed to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge. InterCambio was set up by the International Network for Farming Systems Research Methodology (RIMISP), a Latin American Production Systems Methodology Network, and INFORUM, an international NGO that supports electronic networking, in direct response to this need.
